Choosing the Right Bike

Which bike is right for my child's age?
We offer four models to cover different ages, heights, and experience levels. As a general guide:

  • Dingo 300 — Best for ages ~4–8. Our lightest bike (~11.2 kg) with two gentle speed modes (8 / 15 km/h). Perfect for a child's very first throttle experience.
  • Joey 250 — Best for ages ~3–8. Low 425 mm seat height and chunky 90/65-6.5 fat tyres give small riders maximum stability. Two speed modes at approximately 8 / 14 km/h.
  • Bilby 150 — Best for ages ~5–10. Three speed modes (8 / 12 / 25 km/h) with front and rear suspension, ideal for riders progressing from their first bike.
  • Outrider 800 — Best for ages ~6–12. Our most capable model with an 800 W brushless motor, three key-lock speed modes (10 / 16 / 25 km/h), hydraulic fork, mono shock, and front & rear disc brakes.

These are broad recommendations. Your child's height, coordination, and riding environment matter just as much as age. When in doubt, start with the lighter, lower option and use the slowest speed mode.

My child is tall/short for their age. What should I choose?
Focus on seat height rather than age. Your child should be able to comfortably place both feet flat on the ground while seated. The Joey 250 has our lowest seat at 425 mm, while the Outrider 800 sits at 615 mm. If your child is tall for their age and already confident on two wheels, consider stepping up to the next model. If they're petite or cautious, go with the lower, lighter option.

What's the difference between the Dingo 300 and the Bilby 150?
The Dingo 300 is our entry-level model — very light, two simple speed modes, and designed for first-time riders on flat ground. The Bilby 150 steps up significantly with a 36 V / 300 W motor, three speed modes (up to 25 km/h), front and rear suspension, and IPX4 splash resistance. It's built for riders who are ready for more speed and varied terrain.

Can adults ride these bikes?
No. Our bikes are designed exclusively for children and have maximum load ratings (40 kg for the Dingo 300, 60 kg for the Bilby 150). Exceeding the rated load can damage the frame, motor, and suspension, and will void the warranty.

Speed, Safety & Parental Controls

How fast do the bikes go?
Top speeds vary by model:

  • Dingo 300: 8 / 15 km/h (two modes)
  • Joey 250: ~8 / 14 km/h (two modes)
  • Bilby 150: 8 / 12 / 25 km/h (three modes)
  • Outrider 800: 10 / 16 / 25 km/h (three key-lock modes)

We always recommend starting on the lowest speed mode and only stepping up once your child demonstrates consistent control and braking.

What are key-lock speed modes?
On the Outrider 800, the speed modes are controlled by a physical key, so only an adult can change the speed setting. This prevents children from switching to a faster mode without parental approval.

What brakes do the bikes have?
All our bikes feature disc brakes for reliable stopping power. The Joey 250 has a rear disc brake, while the Outrider 800 has front and rear disc brakes. Brake levers are sized for small hands with adjustable reach on select models.

What safety gear does my child need?
At a minimum, your child should wear:

  • A helmet compliant with AS/NZS 2063 (the Australian standard)
  • Gloves
  • Sturdy closed-toe shoes or boots
  • Long sleeves and long pants
  • Elbow and knee pads
  • Eye protection (goggles or glasses) to keep dust and bugs out

We strongly recommend full protective gear for every ride, no matter how short.

Where can my child ride?
Beshare electric dirt bikes are recreational vehicles intended for use on private property or permitted off-road areas only. They are not road-legal and must not be ridden on public roads, footpaths, or shared trails. Local rules and access vary by state and council, so always check with your local authority. Adult supervision is required at all times.

Battery & Charging

How long does the battery last on a single charge?
Expect approximately 45–90 minutes of typical family riding per charge, depending on the model, rider weight, terrain, and speed mode used. Most families ride in bursts of 10–15 minutes, take a break, and go again.

How long does it take to charge?
Charging times vary by model:

  • Dingo 300: Approximately 4 hours from low
  • Joey 250: Approximately 6–8 hours from low
  • Bilby 150: Approximately 4 hours from low
  • Outrider 800: Approximately 4–6 hours from low (36 V / 1.5 A charger)

What type of charger is included?
All bikes come with a charger that uses an Australian Type-I mains plug (AS/NZS 3112). The power supply should carry the RCM mark, indicating compliance with Australian and New Zealand electrical standards.

Any tips for looking after the battery?

  • Let the bike cool down after riding before plugging in the charger.
  • Always use the supplied charger on a stable, non-flammable surface.
  • Don't store the bike with a completely flat battery. If you won't be riding for a while, give it a top-up charge once a month.
  • Store the bike in a dry place away from extreme heat or cold.

Assembly & Setup

Do the bikes arrive assembled?
Our bikes arrive mostly pre-assembled. Some light setup is required — typically attaching the handlebars, front wheel (on some models), and adjusting the controls. Clear setup instructions are included with every bike, and our support team is available if you need a hand.

Do I need any special tools for assembly?
Basic tools are included with the bike. No specialist equipment is required. Assembly typically takes 15–30 minutes.

How should I adjust the bike for my child?
Start by setting the handlebar height and rotating the bars so the controls feel natural for your child's reach. Adjust the brake lever position so small fingers can comfortably reach it. Always do a pre-ride check: tighten all fasteners, check chain tension, confirm brakes are working, and inspect tyre pressure.

Maintenance

What regular maintenance do the bikes need?
Electric dirt bikes need far less maintenance than petrol models — no oil changes, no spark plugs, no air filters. However, we recommend the following before each ride:

  • Check that all bolts and fasteners are tight
  • Inspect chain tension and lubricate if needed
  • Test both brakes
  • Check tyre pressure and condition
  • Ensure the battery is charged

How do I clean the bike?
Wipe down the frame and components with a damp cloth. Avoid using a high-pressure hose, especially around the motor, battery compartment, and electrical connections. While some models carry an IPX4 splash-resistance rating, they are not designed to be submerged or jet-washed.

Can I get spare parts?
Yes. We stock spare parts and accessories for all our models. Contact us at support@beshare.com.au with your model name and the part you need, and we'll help you get sorted.

What does the warranty cover?
All Beshare bikes are backed by our product warranty, which covers manufacturing defects under normal use. Warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, modifications, unauthorised repairs, accidents, or failure to follow the provided setup and care instructions.

What about my rights under Australian Consumer Law?
